Brazilian Jiujitsu (BJJ) is a grappling-based martial art that has gained immense popularity in Indonesia. BJJ training in Jakarta, Indonesia is being offered by numerous martial arts academies and gyms. Its primary objective in a fight is to take your opponent to the ground and submit them using armlocks, chokes or leg-locks. This martial art rose to prominence in 1993 when Royce Gracie won the first UFC championship by defeating competitors from different martial arts styles. BJJ became a necessary art to master in order to succeed in Mixed Martial Arts competitions.
Although BJJ was originally developed as a self-defense art, its focus has shifted towards becoming a competitive sport in Jakarta, Indonesia. Two opponents compete against each other to win by using submissions such as joint locks and chokes. There are two main types of BJJ competitions – Gi grappling, which involves using a traditional BJJ uniform, and Submission Grappling or No Gi Jiujitsu, which doesn’t require wearing a uniform.
Yuri Amadin is a highly skilled practitioner and instructor of BJJ in Jakarta, Indonesia. With almost two decades of training and teaching experience, he has achieved a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu. His lineage can be traced back to Master Rigan Machado via Professor Chris Haueter of Combat Base Jiujitsu. As an experienced instructor, Yuri’s idea of BJJ training at his academy in Jakarta, is to emphasizes the importance of developing not only physical but also mental attributes such as focus, patience, and perseverance. He believes that the skills and discipline learned in BJJ can benefit practitioners both inside and outside of the martial arts arena.
